Az amerikai szakember 7 éven keresztül (2005-2006, 2013-2017) a Stanford University csapatánál dolgozott offensive assistant pozícióban, majd a szintén FBS-ben szereplő houstoni Rice University csapatához került, ahol 2020-ig az offense falakkal tevékenykedett. 
Egyetemi edzői karrierje alatt kétszeres Rose Bowl résztvevő, 2x-es Pac 12 konferencia bajnok, majd 2017-ben Alamo Bowl résztvevő is volt csapataival.
2023-as szezonban a Koronázók Offensive Coordinatoraként már dolgozott a csapattal, hogy a 2024-es szezonra immár vezetőedzőként térjen vissza Székesfehérvárra.

Joseph Ashfield is the new Head Coach of Fehérvár Enthroners! 
He spent 7 years (2005-2006, 2013-2017) as an offensive assistant at Stanford University (FBS Div I.), before moving to Rice University in Houston (FBS Div I.), where he worked until 2020. During these years he was a 2 times Rose Bowl appearance (2014 runner-up, 2016 champion), a 2x Pac-12 Conference Champion, and an Alamo Bowl runner-up in 2017 with his teams.
In the 2023 season, he already worked with the team as Offensive Coordinator of the Enthroners, but now he returns to Székesfehérvár as Head Coach for the 2024 season.
